This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Phillies fired Rob Thomson in late April 2026 after an 9-19 start and 11 losses in 12 games, then offered the role to Alex Cora, who declined to prioritize family time before the club installed bench coach Don Mattingly as interim skipper through season’s end. Mattingly’s current dugout presence, prior MLB managerial experience, and established rapport with president Dave Dombrowski anchor his front-runner status in trader pricing. Cora remains prominent due to his prior overture and Dombrowski connection, though his near-term availability remains uncertain. Speculative internal and external candidates such as George Lombard, Daniel Descalso, and Carlos Beltrán reflect broader front-office scouting of experienced coaches and former players amid expectations that Mattingly is unlikely to receive the permanent job.
