The Detroit Tigers enter recent AL Central matchups against the Chicago White Sox from last place in the division at 20-32, hampered by multiple pitching injuries including Burch Smith on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation and ongoing absences for Gleyber Torres and Javier Báez. The White Sox sit at 26-25 in second place after offensive outbursts like a nine-run inning in their latest series, though they face their own roster challenges with Jordan Hicks sidelined by a lat strain and Kyle Teel dealing with hamstring and knee setbacks. Recent head-to-head results favor Chicago, which took two of three from Detroit earlier in the month amid the Tigers' extended losing skid. Both clubs contend with bullpen depth questions and schedule density in a tight division race where home/away splits and starting rotation health will shape outcomes.
