The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox meet in an AL Central series amid contrasting 2026 trajectories. Detroit sits at 20-32 and last in the division after losing ace Tarik Skubal to an elbow injury requiring surgery and placing additional starters and position players such as Justin Verlander, Gleyber Torres, and Burch Smith on the injured list. Chicago, at 25-24 and second in the division, has posted a stronger recent record behind improved offensive output and bullpen stability despite its own absences, including catcher Kyle Teel and outfielders Everson Pereira and Austin Hays. Home/road splits, recent form, and bullpen availability will shape outcomes in these matchups, with the White Sox holding a competitive edge in standings and health of key contributors.
