The Chicago Cubs enter this series with a stronger overall record and NL Central positioning compared to the last-place Colorado Rockies, whose poor performance has defined much of their 2026 campaign. Recent roster adjustments include the Cubs placing outfielder Matt Shaw on the 10-day injured list with a back issue, alongside other bullpen moves. Games at Coors Field introduce altitude-driven factors that typically boost offense and test pitching staffs, while the return matchup at Wrigley Field favors the Cubs’ home form. Probable starters and bullpen availability will shape each contest, with the Cubs holding advantages in recent form and depth despite the Rockies’ occasional competitive showings in interleague play.
