SpaceX's recent ground tests with Ship 42 on the Pad 2 Mechazilla tower have strengthened trader confidence in an imminent upper-stage catch attempt. Engineers lifted the vehicle into simulated catch positions, cycled the chopstick arms and pushers, tested the Ship Quick Disconnect system, and verified alignment loads without stabilizer engagement—key rehearsals for mid-air recovery after orbital reentry. Flight 14, targeting mid-to-late September with Booster 21 and Ship 41, focuses on the first full orbital profile and Starlink V3 deployment, with an ocean landing planned. Flight 15, using Ship 42 later in the fall, emerges as the leading candidate for the initial tower catch, building on Flight 13's precise splashdown data that Musk confirmed would have enabled a catch. The ship catch remains more complex than proven Super Heavy booster recoveries due to higher velocities and heat shield demands, with regulatory approvals and final vehicle performance as key swing factors.

A successful catch is defined as the chopsticks capturing and supporting the Starship upper stage without it falling to the ground or causing catastrophic damage during the landing process.
If SpaceX attempts an ocean splashdown of the Starship upper stage instead of attempting to catch it using the Orbital Launch Tower's chopsticks, that attempt will not qualify. If no Starship launch occurs, or a successful catch does not take place, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No."
The resolution source for this market will be official video provided by SpaceX (https://www.youtube.com/c/SpaceX), as well as secondary video feeds and/or written reports if necessary.
