Redistricting under Proposition 50 shifted California's 3rd congressional district boundaries, incorporating more of northern Sacramento County and altering its partisan lean ahead of the June 2, 2026, top-two primary. Democratic incumbent Ami Bera, previously representing the 6th district, entered the race as a moderate with established fundraising and endorsements, while Republican challengers including Nevada County Supervisor Robb Tucker and Christine Bish competed for the second advancement spot. Partial results show Tucker and Bera leading and advancing to the November general election, consistent with voter turnout patterns in the open primary system where the top two vote-getters proceed regardless of party. Remaining vote counts and official certification could confirm or adjust these placements.
