Recent polls in São Paulo, Brazil’s largest electoral college, show Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) leading or tied with incumbent President Lula (PT) in first-round presidential voting intentions, with margins of 35-39% to 32-33% in September surveys from Datafolha and Real Time Big Data. Traders price Flávio’s commanding position in the state at 94% because São Paulo has long favored Bolsonaro-aligned candidates, reinforced by alliances with popular state figures such as Governor Tarcísio de Freitas. A fragmented field of minor candidates, including Augusto Cury and Renan Santos, further concentrates support behind the two main contenders. Late shifts in turnout among undecided voters, unexpected endorsements, or national economic developments could still alter first-place outcomes before the October 4 vote.
