Flavio Bolsonaro holds a commanding lead in trader expectations for first place in Mato Grosso's presidential first round, reflecting repeated state-level polling that places him well ahead of other contenders. Mato Grosso's agribusiness economy and conservative voter base have aligned with the Liberal Party candidate's platform, producing double-digit margins over Lula in multiple surveys conducted through August 2026. His nomination by the PL and inheritance of Bolsonarista support in the region have consolidated this position ahead of the October vote. A narrow national race or unexpected developments such as shifts in turnout among rural voters, late endorsements, or legal rulings on candidacy eligibility could still alter first-round ordering in the state.
