Recent Bank of England communications and the July 30 decision to hold the Bank Rate steady at 3.75% underpin the 90.5% market-implied probability of no change at the September 17 meeting. June CPI inflation eased to 2.6%, with underlying disinflation evident, though higher energy prices tied to Middle East tensions are projected to lift headline readings toward a 3.2% peak in Q4. The MPC’s 6-3 vote split signaled caution, while loosening labor market conditions continue to limit second-round effects. Traders price in this balanced stance as the baseline, with escalation in geopolitical pressures or sharper-than-expected inflation reacceleration representing the main scenarios that could shift odds toward a 25 basis point hike.
