Republican incumbent Mike Haridopolos holds a commanding position in Florida's 8th congressional district ahead of the 2026 general election. Recent redistricting signed by Governor Ron DeSantis adjusted the boundaries, removing Indian River County while incorporating additional voters from Orange County and preserving the area's overall Republican tilt, consistent with the state's broader House map that favors a 24-4 GOP majority. Haridopolos, who won the seat in 2024, faces limited primary opposition and benefits from established fundraising and incumbency advantages. Democratic challengers, including Jennifer Jenkins who recently shifted her campaign to the district after the map changes, trail significantly in early assessments, with race ratings classifying the contest as solidly Republican.
