Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors Xabi Alonso at 78% implied probability to become Chelsea's next permanent manager, propelled by Guardian reports of advancing talks with his camp ahead of the FA Cup final and strong backing from players like Reece James. Alonso, recently out of work after his Real Madrid stint following Bayer Leverkusen success, has expressed openness to a Premier League return amid Chelsea's end-of-season sacking of Liam Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca in January. Diego Simeone lingers at 39% as a stylistic alternative with Atletico Madrid pedigree, while Andoni Iraola (9%) and Cesc Fabregas (10%) reflect ongoing shortlists including Bournemouth's Iraola and ex-Chelsea midfielder Fabregas, though Alonso remains the standout frontrunner per Ornstein insights.
