SpaceX’s successful Flight 13 on July 24, 2026, demonstrated precise terminal guidance and a soft splashdown for the Starship upper stage (Ship 40), confirming the vehicle landed within the catch envelope of the Mechazilla tower arms. Elon Musk stated shortly afterward that Flight 14—pairing Booster 21 with Ship 41—would attempt the first orbital-class tower catch unless post-flight data review revealed issues, later refining the timeline to “a few months.” Achieving this requires the first full orbital trajectory, payload deployment, deorbit burn, and return to Starbase under real reentry heating, all unproven for the upper stage. Hardware upgrades to the chopsticks and ongoing FAA licensing for expanded landing profiles remain key near-term catalysts that traders are watching for schedule clarity.

A successful catch is defined as the chopsticks capturing and supporting the Starship upper stage without it falling to the ground or causing catastrophic damage during the landing process.
If SpaceX attempts an ocean splashdown of the Starship upper stage instead of attempting to catch it using the Orbital Launch Tower's chopsticks, that attempt will not qualify. If no Starship launch occurs, or a successful catch does not take place, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No."
The resolution source for this market will be official video provided by SpaceX (https://www.youtube.com/c/SpaceX), as well as secondary video feeds and/or written reports if necessary.
