Flavio Bolsonaro maintains a commanding lead in Santa Catarina polling for the October 2026 first round, with recent surveys from Quaest and Futura/Apex showing him at 45-51% against Lula near 20% and all other candidates in single digits. The southern state's conservative electorate has consistently favored the Liberal Party candidate and the broader Bolsonaro-aligned platform on security and economic issues. This regional strength, reinforced by the Liberal Party's local organization and Jair Bolsonaro's prior backing, underpins the market's 97% implied probability. Other contenders including Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and Renan Santos trail significantly in state-specific data. A sudden national surge by a competing right-wing name or unexpected turnout shifts among undecided voters could narrow the margin, though current evidence points to limited risk of that outcome before election day.
