**Flávio Bolsonaro holds a commanding position in Rio de Janeiro state polls for first place in the October 4 first round, reflecting his status as the sitting senator from the state and the Liberal Party nominee carrying forward the Bolsonaro movement.** Recent Quaest and Datafolha surveys in Rio show him ahead of President Lula by narrow margins (34-39% to 32-35%), with other registered candidates such as writer Augusto Cury, Ronaldo Caiado, and Renan Santos trailing well behind in single digits. His local base, combined with right-wing consolidation in the state, underpins the market's strong pricing for him over Lula and the broader field. A newly public corruption investigation into alleged film financing has surfaced in national coverage but has not shifted state-level preferences in the latest available data. The tight national race and institutional tensions around the Supreme Court continue to frame voter sentiment heading into the final weeks before voting.
