Recent defections from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), including several sitting legislators and local executives in July 2026, have strengthened the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) ahead of the September 14 parliamentary vote. COMELEC designated UBJP the dominant majority party and BFP the dominant minority party, while BFP secured unopposed wins in at least two districts. Thirteen regional parties are contesting under revised rules that lowered registration and threshold requirements, creating a more fragmented field. Security coordination among COMELEC, AFP, and PNP supports preparations for the first regular election under the Bangsamoro Organic Law. Traders price the BFP lead at 57 percent against UBJP at 43 percent, reflecting these shifts while noting that coalition dynamics and final voter turnout could still alter outcomes before election day.
