Federal prosecutors indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center in April 2026 on 11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a bank, and conspiracy to commit money laundering, alleging the organization funneled over $3 million in donor funds to informants tied to extremist groups between 2014 and 2023. The SPLC entered a not guilty plea in May, with the case proceeding in federal court in Alabama under the current administration. Traders appear to weigh the strength of the government’s evidence and procedural momentum against defense challenges and questions about case viability, producing the current 57.5% implied probability of a conviction by the end of 2026. No trial date or further rulings have shifted positioning since the arraignment.
