SpaceX's recent ground tests with Ship 42 on the Pad 2 Mechazilla tower, including full-position lifts, chopstick actuator cycling, lateral translations, and Ship Quick Disconnect alignments on September 12, have reinforced trader expectations for an upper-stage catch. These rehearsals build on multiple successful Super Heavy booster captures since 2024 while addressing the Ship's higher reentry speeds and distinct aerodynamics through hardware refinements like shortened electromechanical arms. Elon Musk stated on September 15 that Flight 14—targeted for no earlier than September 22 as the first true orbital mission with Starlink V3 deployment—will precede a Flight 15 tower attempt if data supports it, assigning the initial catch a 50-60% success probability. This timeline, combined with ongoing Pad 2 deluge and rail upgrades, positions Flight 15 as the near-term catalyst for resolving the market.

A successful catch is defined as the chopsticks capturing and supporting the Starship upper stage without it falling to the ground or causing catastrophic damage during the landing process.
If SpaceX attempts an ocean splashdown of the Starship upper stage instead of attempting to catch it using the Orbital Launch Tower's chopsticks, that attempt will not qualify. If no Starship launch occurs, or a successful catch does not take place, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No."
The resolution source for this market will be official video provided by SpaceX (https://www.youtube.com/c/SpaceX), as well as secondary video feeds and/or written reports if necessary.
