In the May 7, 2026, United Kingdom local elections, the Green Party secured its first directly elected mayoral victories, with Zoë Garbett winning Hackney (35,720 votes to Labour's 26,865) and Liam Shrivastava taking Lewisham, unseating Labour incumbents amid voter dissatisfaction reflected in recent polling surges and a February parliamentary by-election upset. This outcome, confirmed in early counts on May 8, drives trader consensus to 100% "Yes," as the market resolves affirmatively upon any Green mayoral win among contested boroughs. Realistic shifts remain improbable absent successful recounts—unlikely given comfortable margins—or rare legal challenges to results.
