The South Carolina Republican special primary on August 11 to select a nominee for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by Lindsey Graham’s July death features a crowded field and compressed timeline that has kept probabilities closely bunched. Polling and a recent party straw poll show Darline Graham Nordone benefiting from family name recognition while trailing or tying with U.S. Representatives Russell Fry and Ralph Norman, who bring congressional experience and established donor networks. Mark Sanford and Mark Lynch register lower support amid the split. The likelihood of no majority winner triggering an August 25 runoff, combined with limited late-cycle data and voter turnout patterns in a low-information contest, sustains the tight trader consensus around the top three contenders.
