Don Mattingly's interim stint has driven his market lead after the Phillies dismissed Rob Thomson following a dismal 9-19 start in April 2026. The team has posted a strong record under Mattingly, improving pitching consistency and overall results enough to keep playoff hopes alive. Alex Cora, recently let go by the Red Sox, sits close behind as a proven external option with deep ties to the organization and front-office preferences. The bunched pricing among Mattingly, Cora, and longer shots like George Lombard reflects ongoing uncertainty over whether Philadelphia will stick with the in-house turnaround architect or seek a new voice for 2027 roster construction.
