This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Philadelphia Phillies' decision to fire Rob Thomson on April 28 after an 9-19 start and install bench coach Don Mattingly as interim manager for the remainder of the 2026 season has created a wide-open search for the next permanent skipper. With Alex Cora reportedly offered the role but declining to prioritize family time, trader consensus shows a tight cluster of candidates—including Cora, Joe Girardi, Daniel Descalso, Bruce Bochy, Brad Ausmus, Will Venable, and George Lombard—all priced near 43-45.5% implied probability. This bunching reflects the absence of a clear frontrunner, the appeal of both experienced external hires and internal continuity options, and uncertainty over how the remainder of the season under Mattingly will shape front-office priorities heading into the offseason.
