**SPD holds a strong trader consensus for second place in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election on September 20, 2026.** Recent polls from multiple institutes (INSA, Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Infratest dimap, pollytix) show the AfD leading at 36-38% while the incumbent SPD trails narrowly at 30-35%, well ahead of the Left party (9-12%), CDU (6-8%), Greens (5%), and BSW (3-5%). The SPD's incremental gains in the final weeks have widened its margin over challengers for second, consistent with historical patterns in eastern state races where the party maintains a solid base despite AfD strength. Smaller parties remain far behind, and the four-day window to election day offers limited scope for major shifts in the ordering. Traders price this outcome at 78% implied probability, reflecting the stable polling hierarchy and low volatility among trailing contenders.
