Incumbent Clay Higgins faces a fragmented field in Louisiana’s 3rd district primary on November 3, including multiple Democratic challengers and one additional Republican. The district’s strong Republican lean, combined with Higgins’s substantial fundraising advantage, Trump endorsement, and prior 70 percent showing, positions him to consolidate GOP support while opposition votes split. In Louisiana’s new closed primary system, these dynamics raise the likelihood that one candidate secures an outright majority and avoids a December runoff. Trader consensus at 92 percent for an outright winner reflects the absence of recent polling shifts or developments that would fragment the Republican vote or elevate a single Democratic contender.
