The California primary is currently scheduled to take place on June 2, 2026. This market will resolve "Yes" if the listed candidate advances from the primary to contest the seat for California's 19th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". If no nominees are announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". Any replacement of the nominees before election day will not change the resolution of the market. The June 2, 2026, nonpartisan primary in California's 19th congressional district featured incumbent Democrat Jimmy Panetta facing challengers including fellow Democrat Sean Dougherty and Republicans Peter Verbica and Tuka Gafari. Early and partial vote tallies showed Panetta securing a clear majority share while Verbica led Republican contenders, positioning the pair as the projected top-two finishers who advance under state rules regardless of party. Limited campaign activity and fundraising data in the weeks prior reinforced Panetta's strong position in the heavily Democratic-leaning district, with no major late developments reported to shift the field. Certification of final results and any recounts remain the remaining steps before market resolution.
