Jordan Bardella leads trader pricing for the National Rally nomination in the 2027 French presidential election primarily because Marine Le Pen’s March 2025 conviction for EU funds embezzlement carries a five-year ban from public office that remains in effect pending her July 2026 appeal. Recent polling averages show Bardella, the party president, matching or exceeding Le Pen’s first-round support levels while broadening appeal among younger voters and moderates wary of the Le Pen family legacy. Party statements emphasize continuity under Bardella’s leadership, and no alternative National Rally figures have emerged to challenge the succession. These factors have shifted implied probabilities toward Bardella in skin-in-the-game trading, consistent with historical patterns where legal barriers accelerate internal transitions ahead of presidential cycles.
