Recent defections from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) to the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) have narrowed the contest for the September 14, 2026, Bangsamoro Parliament election. Multiple local officials and members of parliament, including figures from Maguindanao del Sur, have switched affiliations in July 2026, prompting Comelec to designate UBJP as the dominant majority party and BFP as the dominant minority. This realignment, combined with BFP's success in securing unopposed district candidates, underpins trader consensus around a close outcome between the MILF-linked UBJP and the newer BFP coalition. Scheduled campaign activities and any further shifts in party lists or endorsements before election day remain the primary variables that could widen or reverse the current narrow gap.
