OpenAI's GPT Image 2 leads several independent text-to-image leaderboards as of mid-July 2026, driven by superior prompt adherence, text rendering, and editing workflows, yet Reve 2.0/2.1 sits in a statistical tie on arena scores. Google’s Nano Banana variants emphasize speed and ecosystem integration, while Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2 models prioritize photorealism and detail. Ideogram and Recraft carve niches in typography and vector design, respectively. With no universal benchmark winner and rapid iteration across labs, trader sentiment reflects use-case fragmentation rather than outright dominance, leaving room for late-July releases or benchmark shifts to break the deadlock before resolution.
