Preliminary results from Sweden’s September 13 parliamentary election show Vänsterpartiet (V) holding a clear lead over Kristdemokraterna (KD), with V projected at 8.2 percent of the vote and 29 seats against KD’s 6.2 percent and 22 seats after 94 percent of districts were counted. This margin, driven by gains for left-leaning parties within the centre-left bloc and losses for the right-wing Tidö parties, underpins the 100 percent trader consensus that V will finish ahead in total votes. Final tallies of overseas and late postal ballots, expected by mid-week, would require an unprecedented swing to reverse the outcome. Such a reversal remains possible in principle but faces steep numerical barriers given the current gap of roughly 128,000 votes.
