Recent polling across multiple institutes shows the AfD leading with 41-43% support ahead of the September 6 Landtag election, placing the CDU a clear second at 22-24% while Die Linke trails at 13% and the SPD, Greens, BSW, and FDP remain below 7%. The CDU’s position as the main center-right force, its role in the outgoing Schulze coalition, and the absence of comparable momentum among smaller parties have kept second-place probabilities locked in its favor. Late-campaign shifts would require a sharp, sustained movement in voter intention that has not appeared in surveys over the past month.
