Dune: Part Three leads trader sentiment in the Oscars 2027 Best Visual Effects market at 53.5% implied probability, reflecting the franchise’s prior category wins, Denis Villeneuve’s large-scale world-building, and its December 18, 2026 IMAX release positioning it as a late-year awards contender with returning VFX supervisors and houses like DNEG. Project Hail Mary sits at 26% after its March 2026 debut, supported by roughly 2,000 VFX shots that blended practical sets and digital work under Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The Odyssey, Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Godzilla Minus Zero trail further amid earlier releases or heavier practical emphasis that can divide the Academy’s VFX branch. With numerous other 2026 titles clustered near even odds due to limited liquidity this far out, the race hinges on critical reception, guild signals, and Dune’s ability to sustain franchise momentum through nominations.
