This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of President of the Government of New Caledonia by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially appointed and sworn in as President of the Government of New Caledonia. Any interim or caretaker President will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such President takes office by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of New Caledonia (https://gouv.nc/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Recent provincial elections on June 28 produced a fragmented Congress without an outright majority, prompting coalition talks between loyalist lists and the Oceanian Awakening (Eveil Océanien) party. On July 9-10, those parties finalized a governance pact designating Milakulo Tukumuli of Oceanian Awakening as president of the Government, with Virginie Ruffenach of The Rally slated for Congress president. Congress members are expected to formalize the executive shortly after. This arrangement reflects the arithmetic needed to reach the required majority in the collegial government selection process. Scenarios that could still alter the outcome include last-minute coalition shifts before the formal vote or procedural challenges during the executive formation.
