This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Republican Party to contest the MI-01 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The Republican primary will take place on August 4, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Republican sources, including https://www.rnc.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Jack Bergman’s commanding 98.8% implied probability in the MI-01 Republican primary reflects his status as a long-serving incumbent first elected in 2016, combined with strong fundraising exceeding $1.4 million, prior primary victories including 79% in 2024, and an endorsement from President Trump. The solidly Republican district (R+11 Cook PVI) favors established party figures, while challengers Matthew DenOtter and Justin Michal have limited name recognition, far lower resources, and minimal organizational support. The August 4 primary date left little time for late shifts in voter sentiment. A realistic challenge would require an unforeseen scandal, major health event, or unexpectedly strong turnout for the challengers, none of which have materialized in polling or reporting.
