Recent polls ahead of the September 20 election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern show Die Linke holding steady in third place with roughly 9–12% support, behind the AfD (36–38%) and SPD (30–34%). The CDU trails at 6–7%, its weakest showing in any postwar state vote, while the Greens hover near the 5% threshold and the BSW remains below it. This positioning has held across multiple surveys from Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Infratest dimap, and others in early September, with only modest tightening between the top two parties and no significant late surge for smaller competitors. Traders appear to view these patterns as the dominant driver of the implied probability that Die Linke finishes third, given the short time remaining before votes are cast.
