Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Hsinchu County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Hsu Hsin-ying secured the Kuomintang nomination for Hsinchu County magistrate in March 2026 through a mixed primary system weighting public polls at 70 percent and party-member votes at 30 percent, overcoming internal disputes with deputy magistrate Chen Chien-hsien. The Democratic Progressive Party nominated Zhubei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang in June, positioning him as the main challenger in a county with a KMT-leaning base. Recent polling has shown Hsu maintaining leads of roughly five to seven points in head-to-head matchups. Chen ultimately declined an independent bid, reducing risks of a pan-blue split that could have altered the race dynamics. The November 28 election remains the resolution trigger, with trader pricing reflecting these nomination outcomes and limited late-cycle shifts.
