Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Incumbent Josh Green secured the Democratic nomination for Hawaii governor in the August 8, 2026 primary against limited challengers including David Bourgoin, Lauren Kapoliahi'Iaka Shim, and George Lucas-Tadeo. As the sitting governor with strong party infrastructure, high name recognition, and a record of prior primary and general election victories, Green benefited from consolidated Democratic support in the state's dominant one-party environment. Trader consensus reflects the absence of viable opposition or late developments capable of altering the outcome, though an unexpected recount, disqualification ruling, or major unforeseen scandal before formal certification could theoretically reopen the market.
