This followed FIFA’s July abandonment of the plan amid backlash and recent meetings among UEFA’s 55 member associations in Monaco, clearing the path for six European sides to compete in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup opening September 5 in Poland. Broader governance disputes remain unresolved, with UEFA continuing institutional, political, and legal efforts to reform FIFA structures and limit presidential authority ahead of Gianni Infantino’s expected re-election bid. These developments have directly eased immediate participation risks for upcoming FIFA events while shifting focus to longer-term confederation tensions.
