Flávio Bolsonaro maintains a commanding lead in Rio de Janeiro polling for the October 4 first-round presidential vote, with recent surveys from Datafolha and Real Time Big Data showing him at 39-40% against Lula’s 33-35% and all other candidates in single digits. As the Liberal Party nominee and a senator elected from the state, his position draws from consistent regional backing for his party’s platform on security and economic issues. Lula trails despite national incumbency, reflecting lower approval in this key electorate. Fragmented opposition prevents any rival from consolidating enough support to overtake the frontrunner before election day. Late developments such as turnout surges, alliance shifts, or unforeseen events remain the primary variables that could narrow the gap.
