Lula maintains a commanding lead in Pernambuco for first place in the 2026 Brazilian presidential election first round, driven by his birth in the state and longstanding strength across the Northeast region, where Workers' Party support remains robust. Recent Quaest polling from early September shows him at 51-54% in the state, well ahead of Flávio Bolsonaro at 20-21% and other names such as Augusto Cury or Ronaldo Caiado in single digits. This regional base, reinforced by government approval trends in the area, underpins trader consensus reflected in current market pricing. Potential shifts could arise from late-campaign events, turnout variations among key voting blocs, or rulings on candidate eligibility by the TSE, though no such developments have materially altered the polling gap in recent weeks.
