Recent July 2026 IPCA data at 4.44% year-over-year, combined with the Focus survey of economists lowering its 2026 forecast to 5.03%, anchors trader positioning toward the 5.00-5.49% range as the consensus outcome on Polymarket. Persistent supply-side pressures from food items such as rice, beans, and milk continue to push readings above the 3% target midpoint and near or above the 4.5% upper tolerance band, while tighter monetary policy via the elevated Selic rate has contributed to modest recent cooling in monthly prints and lowered near-term expectations. Government projections were revised upward to 5.1% in July, reinforcing the central tendency around 5%, though core measures and labor-market dynamics introduce scope for variance. Key upcoming catalysts include the next Focus survey updates, August inflation releases, and Copom policy decisions that could further shift market-implied odds.
