Barisan Nasional secured a decisive victory in the August 1, 2026 Negeri Sembilan state election through an informal pact with Perikatan Nasional, capturing 18 seats for BN and seven for PN to reach a two-thirds majority in the 36-seat assembly. The outcome followed the dissolution of the prior Pakatan Harapan-led government amid coalition tensions, including disputes over the state ruler’s status, enabling BN to reclaim control after years out of power. Official tallies showed Pakatan Harapan reduced to 11 seats, reflecting voter shifts in a contest centered on state governance and alliance realignments. Trader consensus at near-certainty levels aligns with these verified seat counts, though markets could adjust if final certification or post-poll legal challenges alter seat allocations or coalition arrangements.
