Meetings conducted indirectly, for example, through designated mediators, facilitators, or interlocutors acting with the knowledge and authorization of the relevant governments, will qualify. Brief greetings, chance encounters, or talks otherwise not deliberately aimed at diplomacy or negotiation will not count. The meeting must be in-person (including indirect in-person meetings) and must be publicly acknowledged by either government or reported by a consensus of credible media. Remote meetings, phone calls, or other meetings where the relevant parties are not present will not count. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of Russia and Ukraine, and a consensus of credible reporting.**Recent diplomatic activity between Russia and Ukraine centers on stalled trilateral talks and rejected bilateral proposals.** U.S.-mediated sessions involving envoys from all three countries took place in Abu Dhabi (January–February 2026) and Geneva (February 17–18, 2026), marking the first such format since 2022 and focusing on practical issues alongside core disputes over territory and security guarantees. Negotiations paused after U.S. attention shifted to Middle East developments in late February. In early June 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a direct leader-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a third country. Putin publicly declined on June 5, stating there was “no point” until Russian objectives are met. European leaders (UK, Germany, France) met Zelenskyy in London on June 7 to explore greater European mediation roles, while G7 discussions in mid-June highlighted ongoing U.S. and allied interest in restarting talks. These developments, combined with the U.S. June 2026 peace timeline and battlefield dynamics, shape trader assessments of near-term meeting prospects.
