Recent BLS data show the U.S. average retail price for a dozen Grade A large eggs at $2.25 in April 2026, down from $2.35 in March and sharply lower year-over-year following flock rebuilding after 2025 avian flu outbreaks. Oversupply from recovered production and improved productivity has pressured wholesale and retail prices lower, aligning with USDA forecasts pointing toward levels near $2.16. This supply-driven trajectory underpins the market-implied 98.6% probability for the $2.00–$2.25 range in May. A renewed outbreak or unexpected demand surge could still push prices outside the band, though current conditions favor continued stability.
