Recent polling averages show the Labour Party holding a narrow lead or tie with the governing National Party in party vote intentions ahead of the 7 November election, with both major parties near 30 percent amid rising support for smaller parties such as the Greens, New Zealand First, ACT, and the Opportunity Party. Under the MMP system, this positions Labour to potentially assemble a left-leaning coalition, while National's path depends on retaining its current partners despite internal coalition tensions and Luxon's survival of a recent leadership vote. Trader consensus reflects these close seat projections and the two-month campaign window, during which economic indicators, policy announcements on tax and social issues, and minor-party threshold performance could shift bloc majorities.
