The St. Louis Cardinals enter the series at 28-21, holding a slight edge over the 26-24 Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central standings. A rain postponement forced a day-night doubleheader at Great American Ball Park on May 23, with the opener resulting in an 8-1 Cardinals victory behind Andre Pallante’s strong six-inning outing. Key roster developments include the Reds activating Eugenio Suárez from the injured list while pushing back Chris Paddack, contrasted with Cardinals absences such as Nathan Church on the 10-day IL and longer-term placements for Lars Nootbaar and Ramon Urias. Recent divisional form, home-field dynamics, and bullpen availability shape trader focus on implied probabilities for individual games or the series outcome.
