This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Alex Cora leads the market for the Phillies' next manager due to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski's longstanding preference, rooted in their successful 2018 World Series partnership in Boston.** After firing Rob Thomson following a 9-19 start in April 2026, Dombrowski offered Cora the role, but Cora declined to prioritize family time before being let go by the Red Sox. Don Mattingly, elevated from bench coach to interim manager and father of GM Preston Mattingly, has voiced interest in a permanent role and guided a turnaround, yet multiple reports indicate he would need a deep playoff run—ideally a World Series appearance or title—to retain the position. Other candidates, including Brad Ausmus and Will Venable, reflect typical external options but trail significantly behind the Cora-Dombrowski alignment and Mattingly's internal familiarity. Late-season roster health and postseason outcomes remain the primary variables shaping the implied probabilities.
