With the market showing a tight contest for the Palme d'Or, trader consensus reflects the strong pedigrees of Pawel Pawlikowski's FATHERLAND and Andrey Zvyagintsev's MINOTAUR as leading contenders. Both directors bring proven festival momentum—Pawlikowski from prior critical favorites and Zvyagintsev from his history of stark social dramas—while Ryusuke Hamaguchi's ALL OF A SUDDEN sits just behind on the strength of his recent auteur status. The narrow spread underscores how jury reactions to premiere screenings, thematic resonance, and historical voting patterns for established international filmmakers could determine the winner in the closing days of the event.
