Banxico’s unanimous holds at 6.50% since its May 2026 cut, reinforced by explicit guidance that the current restrictive stance remains appropriate, underpin the 95.8% market-implied probability of no change at the September meeting. August inflation at 3.26% year-over-year, with core pressures easing modestly yet still above target, alongside downside risks to growth and external uncertainties around trade policy and geopolitics, have solidified trader expectations for a prolonged pause extending into 2027 per recent economist surveys. While a data surprise such as an acceleration in services inflation or a sharper peso depreciation could reopen debate on tightening, the central bank’s forward-looking statements and alignment with prevailing Fed rate differentials leave limited scope for near-term shifts.
