Banxico's decision to hold its policy rate at 6.50% since June 2026, following a 475-basis-point easing cycle, underpins the 90.5% market-implied probability of no change in November. July headline inflation eased to 3.12% year-over-year with core at 3.95%, yet the central bank revised its convergence timeline to the 3% target back to Q4 2027 due to sticky services prices, trade policy risks, geopolitical energy shocks, and peso volatility. Analyst surveys and the bank's forward guidance point to a prolonged neutral stance through year-end, with real rates viewed as appropriate amid subdued demand. A sharper inflation drop or peso strength could open room for a 25-basis-point cut, while renewed price pressures or external tightening might shift odds toward a hike.
