Recent softer-than-expected August IPCA inflation at 4.22% year-over-year, alongside monthly declines and signs of moderating economic momentum, has reinforced trader expectations for continued gradual easing by the Banco Central do Brasil. With the Selic rate at 14.00% following four consecutive 25-basis-point cuts, market-implied odds favor a further 25-basis-point reduction in November at 56.5%, reflecting the central bank's data-dependent approach amid inflation still above the 3% target midpoint. Labor market resilience and fiscal risks remain watchpoints, yet the latest price trajectory supports the consensus path over unchanged rates at 35.5%. Key near-term catalysts include the September Copom decision and forthcoming inflation and activity releases that could refine the easing pace.
