Recent FOMC decisions under Chair Kevin Warsh have anchored trader focus, with the June 16-17 meeting holding the federal funds rate at 3.50%-3.75% while the updated dot plot signaled a higher median path and raised the odds of at least one hike by year-end. Gold (XAUUSD) has traded near $4,200-$4,350 per ounce in mid-June after a roughly 25% pullback from January peaks above $5,500, pressured by a stronger dollar and May CPI at 4.2% year-over-year. Hawkish policy expectations and resilient labor data continue to limit safe-haven demand despite lingering geopolitical tensions, with upcoming inflation prints and Treasury yield movements likely to drive near-term volatility in the non-yielding metal.
