This market will resolve to "Yes" if FIFA sells an equity stake in FIFA Forward Enterprise, or in any other entity that holds commercial rights to or operates the FIFA World Cup, to one or more outside investors by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". An outside investor refers to any person not employed, or entity not owned or controlled, by FIFA, its member associations, or its confederations. A qualifying sale refers to an outside investor acquiring direct equity ownership, voting shares, convertible rights treated as equity, or equivalent ownership interests in the entity. Non-equity financial instruments, sponsorship agreements, broadcast rights agreements, and other commercial contracts that do not convey ownership in the entity will not count. An official announcement by FIFA or by a purchasing investor of a completed qualifying sale, or of a binding agreement to complete a qualifying sale, within this market's timeframe will be sufficient to resolve this market to "Yes". Approvals of the entity's creation, proposals, negotiations, letters of intent, or other announcements which do not announce a completed sale or a binding sale agreement will not count. The entity need not be named FIFA Forward Enterprise, provided it fulfills the description above. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.FIFA’s abrupt July 2026 decision to abandon plans for selling a minority stake in a new commercial subsidiary tied to World Cup operations underpins the near-certain trader consensus against equity sales this year. Widespread opposition from UEFA, other confederations, member associations, and stakeholders over governance concerns and perceived commercialization forced President Gianni Infantino to scrap the proposal within days of its announcement, citing the divisions it created. With the 48-team tournament already completed and no subsequent revival signals through early September, the window for any equity transaction in 2026 has effectively closed. Only an unforeseen reversal or entirely new structure late in the calendar year could alter the outcome.
